Randomly ranting about the state of society, entertainment, comics, photography, music or anything else that comes to my addled mind.

Congratulations Councilors - City Council members voted unanimously to reverse the decision that would bring the Platinum Plus strip club to Bangor. I would like to congratulate Councilors Tremble, Cashwell, and Greene for listening to the citizens of Bangor, listening to their conscience, and changing their vote. In the future more thought should be given to matters such as this and the public involved before the wheels start turning rather than after.
Sarlary Cap? - As most of you know, Alex Rodriguez has a whooping $252 million contract with the Yankees. $252 million? What is wrong with this picture? A guy making this much to play a game! When is the last time you saw a teacher inking such a contract? Actually, when you saw the teacher they were spending their own money to get supplies for their classroom because there was no money in the budget for said supplies. I watched the interview with A-Rod this morning on the Today Show and some of his responses blew my mind.
Lauer: "A lot of people look at this deal here and they talk about the money. They talk about your contract. But they say, the New York Yankees dipped into George Steinbrenner's substantial wallet and they bought the best player in the game and that shouldn't happen. Are we going to look back in 10 years at this deal and say, that's the deal that was the beginning of the end for baseball?"
Rodriguez: "I don't think so. I mean Matt I think a stage like New York City with the greatest team and the greatest franchise in sports history, I think the better player you can put on that team, the better for the game. If Major League Baseball didn't have the New York Yankees, Major League Baseball wouldn't be half as popular."
Lauer: "Do you think there should be a salary cap eventually in baseball?"
Rodriguez: "No."
NO? Of course you don't think so Mr. Rodriguez. Your the one getting paid!!! I don't know about you, dear reader, but don't you think this paycheck is a bit outrageous? I might be naive, but $252 million could be used elsewhere than in Mr. Rodriguez' pocket. I have always said that the Yankees are the best team money can buy...

Soviet Parrot? - John Kerry spewing Soviet rhetoric in his post Vietnam anti-war days? National Review, dear reader, has an article written by none other than the former acting espionage chief of Romania, Ion Mihai Pacepa, that states the John Kerry's statement to the U.S. Congress in 1971 sounded just like propaganda used by the Soviets to damage American credibility. Pacepa writes:
"As a spy chief and a general in the former Soviet satellite of Romania, I produced the very same vitriol Kerry repeated to the U.S. Congress almost word for word and planted it in leftist movements throughout Europe."
Bush's service record has drawn plenty of media attention supposedly questioning his "character". Shouldn't Kerry's claims be investigated and this story that calls into question Kerry's "character" be given equal coverage?

NBC distorts news about tax cuts - The Media Research Center has an article detailing how NBC and other various liberal news agencies twisted the words of Fed Chair Alan Greenspan and targeted the administrations tax cuts, labeling them "Bush's Spending", and blaming those cuts for the growing deficit. Luckily, there are organizations that will give us the real story, not headlines created by liberal news anchors such as Brokaw, Rather, and Jennings to name a few, that would rather create headlines than give us the news fair and unbiased.
Bangor council to revisit strip club issue - A controversial decision made by the city council will most likely be overturned tonight. Two councilors that voted in favor of the amendment on Monday, in light of public opposition, have reconsidered their vote. A special meeting has been called tonight at Bangor City Hall at 6:00. If you are a Bangor resident and wish to see the decision overturned please come to the meeting and show your support. If these two councilors have truly reconsidered their positions the proposed amendment that would allow the Platinum Plus strip club to operate in Bangor will be defeated and would keep this establishment and ones like it out of our city.

Platinum Plus (and no, it's not a credit card offer) - Bangor (Maine) City Councilors voted 5-4 on Monday night to change an ordinance that would allow nudity and alcohol both to be served up at a proposed nightclub in the former Pilot's Grill building. The problem lies in the fact that there were 70 plus people in attendance, many of whom did not want the ordinance changed nor have a strip club located in Bangor near several family businesses. Here we have a classic case of those who are elected to represent the people completely disregarding the peoples' opinion on the matter. Councilors Cashwell, D 'Errico, Greene, Neally, and Tremble all voted for the proposed change enabling the strip club to become a reality, despite opposition from local residents, clergy, and business owners. Clearly the input of local residence was irrelevant to their vote. Now, either the council will have to convene a special meeting to reconsider the previous vote and listen to the input of the people, or the citizens of Bangor will have to collect a specific number of signatures forcing the issue to be vote on at the next election. Hopefully the councilors will reconsider their vote and do the right thing, which is listen to the people of Bangor, but even if they don't the people will have their say by voting. Kudos to Councilors Allen, Farrington, Gratwick, and Palmer for doing the right thing for the city. To express your concerns you can contact Councilors Cashwell, D 'Errico, Greene, Neally, and Tremble at City Hall.
Welcome to the World of Tomorrow. This site will be used for various rants on news and all things political, as well as a smattering of things that I am interested in. I am certainly no great political pundit, and will often be referring readers to my good friend Peter's website Slublog. In this day and age of the liberal media, the voice of conservatives must be heard, and hopefully I will be able to do my part. Together, you and I can make our voices heard and change the world of tomorrow for the better...
